Our Programmatic Pillars

RefugePoint envisions an inclusive world where all refugees can safely build stable, connected, and thriving lives. We accomplish this through two main programmatic pillars: self-reliance, and resettlement & other pathways to safety.

Self-Reliance

For refugees who must remain in the country to which they've fled, we help them reach stability and work towards self-reliance, so they can meet their own essential needs.

Resettlement & Other Pathways to Safety

Many refugees can’t go home and can’t safely stay in the country to which they've fled. We help these people relocate to a safe, new country, so that they can begin to rebuild their lives.
Our Tactics

We help refugees access lasting solutions using three tactics: direct services, field building, and systems change. Through this three-pronged approach we provide direct services to thousands of refugees each year, strengthen the capacity of other organizations to better serve refugees, and influence global policy and practice to transform refugee response systems.

What We Do Direct Services

Each year, we provide direct assistance to thousands of refugees who face vulnerabilities and are underserved by humanitarian aid systems.

Using what we learn from our direct service work, we help build capacity within our sector by sharing knowledge and resources with other organizations that are also working to expand solutions for refugees.

Through our strategic relationships with key decision-makers in the sector (within governments, the United Nations High Commissioner for Refugees [UNHCR], and other organizations), and our seat at the table in high-level policy settings, we influence global policy and practice to transform refugee response systems.

Driving Transformative Change

Lasting solutions work. Since our founding, we’ve helped 179,384 refugees access resettlement and other pathways to safety. We’ve helped thousands more to achieve self-reliance and inclusion in their host communities. Together, we can shape how the world supports refugees and create a future where all refugees can safely rebuild their lives.

“I am content with what I have. I do not seek assistance from other people. I have a plan to expand this work by hiring people to work under me.”

“My life has changed. It is not like before. I worried a lot about whether we’d have anything to eat. But now, I don’t worry about food, school fees, and rent. Since we received assistance, my business has run smoothly. There is no worry.”

“When I get to Canada, I want to improve my skills to be a full nurse and help fellow refugees who are still in the camps. My hope is that I’m going to a multicultural country and environment, and I’m going to enjoy my freedom, which I did not have before.”

“This opportunity is a big one for us. There are so many people searching for this opportunity. Life was not easy. Working as a hairdresser to provide for my siblings was tough. I would often wonder: What is their future? What is our future? But this resettlement means a lot to us.”

“In French they say, ‘I am ‘fière’ (proud) of my life now. I’m no longer seeking assistance, I’m confident in my business and now I have my own money… My life has really changed and I’m very grateful to RefugePoint and all the staff who helped me along the way.”
